Google just changed how you track visual search traffic

Ever snapped a picture of something you liked on your phone just to find where to buy it? Millions of shoppers do that every day using Google Lens and Circle to Search.

Until now, you had no easy way to tell if visual searches were actually sending people to your website. Google just rolled out a new "Multimodal" filter inside Google Search Console to fix that.

Now you can see impressions and clicks that start from photo queries, image uploads, and right-click image searches on desktop. If you run an online store or invest time into great product photography, this gives you a clean look at whether those visuals are pulling in traffic.

The catch: you won't get a list of keyword queries like normal text search. Since users search with pictures, Google only reports which pages received the traffic, not what words they might have typed.

Practical takeaway: Check your Search Console Performance report this week. If visual traffic is already finding your pages, it is a great signal to keep leveling up your product photos.
